Role Summary
Enables activities of infants through prekindergarten children in the nursery and children in classes operated for members and guests of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.
Responsibilities
- Team First
- Assist Director of Early Childhood each week with requested tasks
- Be part of a team that supports the “church-wide” gatherings and functions
- Attend weekly Children’s Ministry team meetings and attend other staff meetings
- Be part of St. Andrew’s as evidence through participation within the body of believers
- Essence of Responsibilities
- Oversees the care of infants and toddlers
- Follows all Policies and Procedures
- Takes direction from Childcare Staff as needed
- Keeps open communication with Early Childhood Director and Staff and responds to minor situations appropriately
- Invite
- Oversees, organizes, and participates in play time; reads to children; and provides age appropriate activities which may include sensory manipulation, singing, and other activities
- Assists in keeping classrooms clean by cleaning toys, bedding, and other materials
- Works with the Early Childhood Director and Childcare Staff to transition babies to the toddler side at appropriate time
- Speaks with parents and relays information as needed
- Nurture
- Oversees nap time for staff children
- Changes diapers
- Attends to the safety of all children
- Provides a safe and caring environment for all children
- Assists with feeding bottles to infants
- Empower
- Assists children in eating, resting, and play time
- Helps children remove outer garments and change clothes
- Helps children develop habits of picking up and putting away toys and books
- Prepares non-staff billing from nursery sign-in sheets
- Maintains and prints all sign-up/sign in sheets
Other General Responsibilities
- In addition to normal responsibilities, is a member of a team dedicated to Christian service and should therefore seek at all times to conduct him/herself in a way that would be pleasing to the Lord.
- Ability to use a computer with the knowledge of Microsoft Office and Keynote programs
- Must be available for occasional weekend or evening events
- Perform other duties as requested by the Minister of Family Ministries and/ or Director of Elementary
Qualifications
- An individual who is an active part of a Christian Church and affirms the mission, values, and mission measures of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church
Education and/or experience
- High School Diploma
- 12 College units
- CPR and first aid (will train)
- Mandated reporter certification (will train)
